Why You Should Join Our Fitness Community (Straight From the Instructor Who Doesn't Do Fluff)

I've spent fourteen years telling people the truth about their workouts, and today I'm inviting you to join our fitness community. If you've spent any time around More Movement Please, my name probably isn't new to you. Today you get to hear it straight from me, in my own words, about exactly why I think you should be part of what we're building.

I'm Not Exactly a "Join My Community" Kind of Person

Let's get something out of the way first. I don't love being the center of attention, and I'm about as far from a social butterfly as it gets. For fourteen years my job has been to show up, do every rep alongside my class, and tell people the truth whether they wanted to hear it or not. Building an online community was never on my radar.

So why am I doing it? Because the people in my classes keep asking me the same thing. They want more time with me. They want real answers about their aches, their plateaus, and how to keep moving well into their sixties, seventies, and beyond. I can only fit so many people into a room in Richmond, Kentucky. This is how I get to reach the rest of you.

Meet My Very Loud (And Sometimes Obnoxious) Colleague

If you don't already know her, meet "Famous Ashley Grant." She is loud. She is boisterous. She will hype you up over a five pound dumbbell like you just did something incredible. I am, as you can probably tell, not that.

Here's the deal we struck. I handle the fitness. The programming, the form corrections, the honest answers about why your knees hurt and what your body actually needs as you get older. Ashley handles the cheerleading. She's the one reminding you to show up, celebrating you when you do, and making sure you never feel like you're doing this alone. I bring the expertise. She brings the noise. Somehow, together, it works.

What Fourteen Years on the Floor Actually Taught Me

I started teaching group fitness back in 2011, completely by accident. My first class was a community ed course at EKU with two or three students who showed up out of loyalty more than anything else. A few years later I was packing out a room at Berea College so tight we fogged up the mirrors.

Since then I've taught more classes than I can count, somewhere around nineteen hours a week these days, down from twenty three or twenty five for a long stretch before that. I've watched thousands of people walk through the door, and I can usually tell within about sixty seconds whether someone is going to stick with it. That's not a party trick. That's fourteen years of paying attention.

What I care about isn't how many people show up to a class. It's watching someone go from barely lifting five pounds to pushing fifteen over their head. It's my people in their seventies who are still doing their own yard work and carrying their own groceries because they built the strength to do it. That's the whole point. Getting stronger as you age isn't about how you look. It's about what you get to keep doing.

No Diet Talk. No Supplements. Just Getting Stronger.

I'm not going to push pills, shots, or supplements on you. That's not what this is, and it never will be. What I care about is whether you can get up off the floor without help, whether you can keep up with your kids or your grandkids, and whether your body lets you keep living life on your own terms for as long as possible.

That's the whole philosophy behind More Movement Please, and it's the whole philosophy behind Fitness with Rhonda Goode.

What You Actually Get When You Join Us

In the free tier, you won't get much of me, I'll be honest. Short of the podcast episodes I reluctantly agree to, I'm not there much. Where I devote my time is to the people that want to go deeper. For that, you should join the paid tiers.

When you join the paid tiers of our fitness community, here's what you're signing up for:

  • Real conversations with me about real fitness questions, including the stuff nobody wants to ask out loud
  • Straight answers about training around injuries, plateaus, and getting older without giving up
  • A community that's actually rooting for you, not judging you
  • Zero supplement pitches and zero pressure to look a certain way

I don't do scripts, and I don't do fluff. If you join us, you're getting the same version of me my in person classes get. You're just getting a lot more access to her.

Come Say Hi

If any of this sounds like something you want to be part of, head over to famousashleygrant.com/group and join us. Ashley will be there being loud. I'll be there telling you the truth. She always signs off with "onwards and upwards." I just tell people to get to work. Either way, I'll see you in there.
